Stuff

So recently I have been on a self improvement kick.  I had a mini melt down of am I getting old, am I getting wrinkles, I need to loose 10 pounds etc.  Also included I feel that I am entirely out of date with pop culture and overall general trends etc.  So I decided to watch youtube videos and recent reality shows because OBVIOUSLY these people have all the answers.

These are my conclusions of trying to get up to date.

1.  Katie Perry is like a big thing...
2.  Nicki Menaj is another big thing...
3.  Making videos about make-up is really "in" on youtube and gets you a ton of views if you have a decent face.
4.  There is a reality show on youtube...what has the world come to.  Btw I am watching it, I kind of feel that the judges are too nice, which makes it kind of boring.
5.  People like making "My Youtube Story" videos, "My coming out story" videos, "It gets better" videos, Parodies of songs, covers of songs, "I am sorry I have not updated in so long" videos, Q and A videos, and last but not least "update on my life" videos.

I am actually not harping on any of these videos cause I found them all interesting.  Before this summer I did not even know what a VLOG was.  I used youtube for what the majority of people use youtube for and that is to watch scenes in movies/shows I liked, video game trolling, video game playing, stand up comedy, and music videos.  I find it interesting that I actually watched these and was interested to why I liked it.  The only reason I can come up with is that it is like a reality show, that people do voluntarily.  While there are inevitably boring people on it just like reality TV, there are definetly people that have great personalities that can talk about being drunk off their ass, or how they hate a certain song, or about moisturizing, and make it seem funny or interesting.

6.  It seems that cream cleanser is bad for oily skin.  When I switched btw I broke out all over....so I am not sure what that is all about.

7.  Apparently there is this bean song that continually played forever at the club I was at the other day that everyone knows the words to.  I have never heard this song once.

8.  Boy bands have made a revival in the band One Direction.  I like the popular song, all the rest of songs are whatever.  Maybe they are a "gasp" one hit wonder. HAHAHA

9.  I have learned how to apply make up the "Natural Way" haha.

10. Being up to date with pop culture is seriously tiring.

11.  Apparently 70's or was it 80's fashion is IN but a modernized version.

In essence there are way to many social networking sites instagram, pintrist (I know I spelled it wrong), tumbler, google+ (which I knew about, but people are using it is new), youtube (I only put this on here because I had no idea that it was considered one until recently), twitter (err I knew about this but I still do not get it), facebook (i put this on here because I basically do not understand facebook now at 26 I feel so old) and whatever else I missed.  People update this but not this, basically I feel like some people's lifes must be spent online 24 hours a day updating all these social networking sites about themselves.  While I spend alot of time online and could not deal without email, I find that  it is really weird or maybe strange to feel like you are keeping in touch by chatting with someone half way around the world that you never met online.  While I have gaming buddies I do that with the conversation revolves around games....

After my foray into this I feel that I no longer care about pop culture as much as I did when I was 15-17 and it was good while the time lasted but it is also good to bury that part of my life and not resuscitate it in any way.  I no longer care if my clothes are out of date as I like them and they look good on me.  I am fine listening to my 90's pop music and early 2000's.  I like the cream cleanser that does not make me break out so I will continue to use it.  I do like youtube videos so I will continue to watch them and also continue to work out.

I HATE Pastel Colors

I really hope pastel colors mostly die. I was watching Project Runway All-Star Challenge (2009), and I just have to say what are the judges smoking saying they liked Sweet P.'s collection. Honestly so tired of muted pastel dresses....I hate every single dress that was ever created in a muted pastel color. There was not one which I was like "oh I can see someone wearing it maybe". Not one. They were all dull and sad looking. Maybe it is simply because I am tired, or maybe the crappy video quality I was watching (maybe if I was watching in HD maybe it would have been amazing) but gees I really felt it was all sad, sad, and sadder.

I am far from a fashionista or even remotely someone that cares what they wear everyday. But I just feel they all are something my grandma would make me or something, which I would cherish for sentimental value but in the end they look homey, or homely.

Even though I really like Daniel's collection I was still meh about it, in fact I did not like any of the designers all 4 looks I see all this junk about the african american women should have won, well to be honest I hate that pant suit, and it did not even look like it belonged in the same collection.

Project Runway season 9 was so overall underWHELMING. To be honest from runway show alone I liked Josh (even though I pretty much didn't like his clothes mostly throughout the season). I hated Victor's prints but I can still see people wearing them. Now I hated Anya's collection, to be honest I live in the midwest if someone walked around in any of those outfits, I would be horrified. Do people wear those types of clothes in New York? But, whatever the judges died over it. First of all Uli should have won if this is what was in, because her dresses which looked really similar btw were better overall and I could see people wearing them, even in the midwest.

Project Runway All-stars. I will say this AUSTIN should have WON>, and I know Mondo was robbed or whatever from his season but what the hell was that last dress. What did that have to do with therapy it was like a disco dress married with a beach dress married with uninspired design (and to end it as a finale look???). I like some of his stuff, but really was that a half a million dollar line? The judges just died over it...which they liked Austin's too, but what they said every piece was great except what he lacked cohesion...such a BS reason. To be honest I did not think it lacked cohesion because basically it is like uhhh Austin designed all of it, even if he had not come out before the show started everyone would have known oh he designed it and not any of those other designers. Basically I guess judges care more about commercialism versus great clothes.

What is it with pastel clothes nowadays. I feel that pastel clothes remind me of Easter, ice cream, sherbert, and dresses that you wear when you are ages 1-14. When I say pastel I am not talking about ivory or gray. I am talking about cotton candy pink, my little pony purple, and mint green ice cream green. They are so icky and should stay as candy, ice cream, and my little ponies. Another thing I noticed from project runway season 9 is that bag dresses are in, mumu's became fashionable again, and that flowy beachy stuff is also in (because my god most of America is on a carribean cruise most of the time). I don't really get it. I guess I did not get the whole bringing leggings back thing either or the big brown boots that everyone was wearing. I can not imagine changing my wardrobe every time fashions change. To be honest it is all a bunch of a crock, but I love watching it all.
